Morphologies of Beaches and Dunes on the Oregon Coast, with Tests of the Geometric Dune-Erosion Model, by Jonathan C. Allan, Oregon Dept. of Geology & Mineral Industries and Paul Komar, Consulting Oceanographer, Corvallis. The objective of this study is to analyze beach survey data collected along the Oregon coast to respond to tasks required for developing and testing a dune-erosion model to be used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assess the susceptibilities of shore-front properties to erosion and flooding by ocean processes.

Allan and Roger Hart, Oregon Dept. of Geology & Mineral Industries. The objective of this study is to develop a coast-wide GIS database containing information on the morphology of beaches and dunes along the Oregon coast from an analysis of Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) data that were measured jointly by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in 1997, 1998, and 2002.

Evaluation of Coastal change and the potential for erosion during extreme storms at Crissey Field, southern Oregon coast: Technical report to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept., by Jonathan C. Allan, Oregon Dept. of Geology & Mineral Industries. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is proposing to develop a state recreation site at Crissey Field, located west of Highway 101, north of the Oregon-California border, and south of the town of Brookings. Due to the proximity of the proposed "Welcome Center" to the Pacific Ocean, the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) was commissioned to provide an assessment of the coastal geomorphology of the Crissey Field littoral system, to determine the susceptibility of the proposed "Welcome Center" site, located some 200 to 250 ft from the beach, to a variety of coastal geologic and oceanographic hazards.

Evaluation of Coastal Erosion Hazard Zones along Dune and Bluff-Backed Shorelines, Southern Lincoln County, Oregon: Seal Rock to Cape Perpetua. This report describes the methodology and results used to establish erosion hazard zones along the southern Lincoln County coastline from Seal Rock to Cape Perpetua. The results of this investigation build on prior coastal erosion and landslide hazards evaluations performed by the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI). When combined with the erosion hazards database for the northern Lincoln County coast, the information completes a seamless digital database that depicts erosion and landslide hazards for the entire Lincoln County coastline.

Changes at Cleawox Lake, Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, Lane
County, Oregon
Publisher: DOGAMI
Water levels in Cleawox Lake, located in Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park
(Figure 1), have risen by more than 3 ft. since 1937 and now threaten historic park
resources. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) commissioned
the Department of Geology and Mineral Industries to evaluate the cause of rising
lake levels (including both natural and human processes that may influence lake
levels), and to propose future monitoring strategies and recommend mitigation
options, including both long- and short-term solutions, to manage water levels
and to protect park facilities.
