The Northwest offers a bounty of edible berries. The best known are the
blackberry and the huckleberry.
When collected in moderation, berries can grow abundantly and
reproduce almost indefinitely under proper habitat conditions. Caution
is needed because some species are poisonous, and others are rare,
threatened, or endangered. Books or pamphlets describing native plants
and berries are available at agency offices, local bookstores, and libraries.
