Directions: From Prineville: go east on Highway 26 approximately 16 miles, turn right on FS road 22 and go 36 miles (18 miles past Walton Lake). Campground is on the southeast corner of Big Summit Prairie. There are no developed trails.

Cyrus Horse Camp

Directions: From Madras go south approximately 11 miles then turn east on Norris Lane and go approximately 3 miles. Turn right on FS Road 5740 for about 1/4 miles. Turn left on Hagman Road (FS Road 5760) for about one mile to Cyrus Horse Camp. From Prineville take Hwy 26, west towards Madras, turn left on Laurel Lane (FS Road 96) for about two miles, then left on FS Road 500 about 1/2 mile, turn right on Hagman Road (FS Road 5760) for about 1.5 miles to Cyrus Horse Camp.

 

Elevation:

2,900'

 

Facilities:

5 sites, 18 stalls, picnic tables, fire rings, stock water (depending on time of year). Call the Grassland office at (541) 416-6640 or (541) 475-9272 for stock water availability.

Dry Creek Horse Camp

Directions: From Prineville take Highway 26 east for approximately 8 miles. Turn left on FS Road 33. Drive approximately 5 miles and turn left at end of pavement onto FS Road 3370, follow about 2 miles to FS road 3370-200, on left.

5 sites, 18 stalls, picnic tables, fire rings, stock water

 

Activites:

Giddy-Up-Go Trail (please check with district office on current trail status).

Mud Springs

Directions: Travel Highway 380 to Paulina, take left fork four miles east of Paulina, travel 3.5 miles and turn right on Puett Road (County Road 135), go approximately 9 miles to FS road 58 and Puett Junction, turn right on Road 58 and travel five miles to the 58/5840 junction, turn left on 5840 and travel approximately seven miles, turn right on FS road 400, go approximately 1 mile.

6 sites, 9 corrals, stock water

Access to Black Canyon Wilderness

Salter's Cabin

Directions: Travel Highway 380 to Paulina, take left fork 4 miles east of Paulina, go 7 miles to FS Road 58 and 42 junction. Take left on 42 and go approximately 1 mile. Salter's Cabin sign is on the right and road is on left. Cabin is visible from highway.

 

Elevation:

4,100'

 

Facilities:

8' X 15' cabin, 2 picnic tables, fire ring, outhouse, wooden horse corral, wire corral, stock water.
