The Badger Creek Wilderness contains 24,000 acres and was created by the 1984 Oregon Wilderness Act. This Wilderness is located on the eastside of the Mt. Hood National Forest, east of Bennet Pass on State Highway 35 and 42 miles south west of The Dalles. Glacial features, such as steep walled, wide U-shaped valleys, contribute to the geological and ecological interest of Badger Creek.

Standing tall at 6,525 feet, Lookout Mountain at the northwest edge of the wilderness provides all around views of the Cascades and eastern Oregon. To the east and south of Lookout Mountain, the ridges support a subalpine plant community of mountain hemlock forests. Open meadows and grasslands are painted with wildflowers in late June and July.

The eastern portion of the wilderness is much drier, and supports a ponderosa pine and Oregon white oak community.
