Boulder Creek Wilderness, created by the 1984 Oregon Wilderness Act, is located approximately 45 miles east of Roseburg on Highway 138, just north of Boulder Flat campgounds. This 19,500 acre wilderness surrounds Boulder Creek, a main drainage into the North Umpqua River. The lower portion of Boulder Creek is a critical spawning stream for anadromous fish. A wide variety of wildlife, geologic formations and plants can be found here. The area also includes an impressive stand of old-growth ponderosa pine.

Access is through the middle of the area via Boulder Creek trail with a few feeder trails from the west side. Little or no trails exist in the eastern half of this wilderness.
