The Noisy Diobsud Wilderness was created
by the 1984 Washington Wilderness Act and
contains 14,300 acres. Its eastern border
is shared with the southeast corner of the
North Cascade National Park. The Wilderness
extends from just north of State Highway 20
near Marblemount north to the Canadian Border.
It was created to enhance and preserve that
part of the Mt. Baker-Snoqulamie National
Forest that closely resemble the North Cascades
National Park topography.
The elevations of this area range from
200 feet to the highest point of Mt. Watson,
6,234 feet. The terrain is extremely rugged,
with steep slopes and numerous ridges.
Noisy Creek dissects the northern portion
of the area while Diobsud Creek dissects
the southern portion. Mountain-climbing
and rock-climbing are the two popular
activities in the area. The area has almost
no trails and very few lakes.
Vegetative cover is typical west slopes of
the Cascades including cedars, Douglas-fir,
true firs, western and mountain hemlock, and
at higher elevations, alpine meadows.
